Flight TUSL32 Concert Long Neck ABS Travel Ukulele - Sakura with bag
The Flight TUSL32 "Sakura" Travel Ukulele is a unique "hybrid" model that combines the compact body of a soprano with the longer neck and fretboard of a concert ukulele. Adorned with a beautiful cherry blossom (Sakura) print across the soundboard, this instrument is part of the Flight Ukuleles Travel Series, specifically designed for players who love the portability of a small uke but need the extra room and tension provided by a concert-scale neck.
The Best of Both Worlds: Long Neck Design
The "L" in TUSL stands for Long Neck. By placing a concert-scale neck on a soprano body, Flight has created an instrument with 17 frets and a wider fret spacing, making it much easier for those with larger hands to navigate. This design also increases string tension, resulting in a punchier, more stable tone than a standard soprano, while still fitting easily into a backpack or carry-on luggage.
Weather-Resistant Sakura Style
The TUSL32 features a laminate linden wood top that showcases the elegant Sakura artwork, providing a bright and cheerful acoustic voice. Like the rest of the Travel Series, the back and sides are made from arched ABS plastic. This makes the ukulele virtually immune to "fret sprout", warping, or cracking caused by humidity changes. The rounded back acts as a parabolic reflector, pushing the sound forward to ensure this slim instrument has a surprisingly large and resonant "pop".
